Most kids today watch ADult Swim and Porn. Those are FAR FAR WORSE for their psyches than the REAL ADULT PROBLEMS presented in afantasy/sci fi setting by Torchwood. MOFAT PELASE GOD GIVE US JACK AND IANTO IN DOCTOR WHO and the DOCTOR IN TORCHWOOOOOD WHYYYYYYY????? PLEASEEEE
He regenerates as a defence mechanism. It's sort of a way of cheating death. Every time he comes close to dieing he will regenerate and take a new face. The last regeneration was caused by radiation overload. The one before that was because of too much absorbed time energy from the heart of the TARDIS.
All in all it's a way of drastic healing when he comes too close to death.
